8th Grade Independent Art Show
8th Grade Independent Art Show
During their 8th grade students worked independently to explore their identity as artists. They were tasked with selecting and researching a concept that would guide their art. This culminated in an end of year solo exhibition. Even though it was not required, many of my students made the choice to focus on topics related to social injustices. LGBTQ+ rights, police violence, the military industrial complex, climate change, pollution, and deforestation were just a few of the topics they explored. These works of art highlight how students can begin to imagine, and one day create, a more just world.
