Kindergarten Figure Sculptures

I loved making these figure sculptures with my Kindergarten artists! After the figure drawing lesson, my young artists used their new skills to draw a self-portrait figure onto a clay slab. They then used a needle tool to carefully cut and pose their figures. Next I took a wooden stylus and gently poked a hole into the bottom of each foot and on top of a small clay base. After firing their work in the kiln I placed a piece of wire into each foot and hot glued them to the pedestal. We then used watercolor to paint (but tempera or acrylic work as well). When they were done we sealed the paint with mod podge.
